District Innovation Council

Promoting innovation by building a conducive ecosystem at multiple educational institutions at the district level.

K-DISC builds an innovation ecosystem from the schools, training institutes, Polytechnics, engineering colleges, research centres and Centres of Excellence at the district level through its District Innovation Councils (DInC). DInC stimulates innovation by supporting partnerships among colleges, local governments, departments, the Centres of Excellences and Research Centres in the district for learning and innovation.

Aims & Objectives

  1. Connect with MSME Clusters and develop them as Innovation Clusters using a triple Helix model.
  2. Link young talent in the various educational institutions in the district with the  Young Innovation Program(YIP) and other challenges.
  3. Create a pool of mentors at the district level and link the mentor pool with the young innovators through the mentor-mentee platform of K-DISC. 
  4. Identify local innovations and disseminate successful innovation examples for adoption. 
  5. Integrate local governments in the district and institutions, functionaries and departments Kerala at the district level with the Kerala Innovation Fund.
